iPhone Begins?

According to Reuters, Apple and Softbank Corp. are working together on a cell phone with iPod capabilities.

The phone will be able to download songs through Apple’s iTune Music Store, and the two companies expect to release a product early this year that will allow you to download music over wireless networks.

It is only rumors and speculations that this alliance of Apple and Softbank Corp will give birth to the iPhone, but it is a possibility.

Apple doesn’t have much choice but to start innovating in the area of digital music, as cell phones get more and more multimedia capabilities. See Is the reign of the iPod coming to an end? for my take on the subject.

  1. I am kind of excited to see what Apple has planned. All I can say is that I hope it is a better device then the ROKR was. If this phone is really going to sell though it will need one simple capability….to transfer songs from the ipod to the phone. Otherwise most people will not pay for the songs twice.
